While we were at Meaher State Park, we took the opportunity to head to Foley, Alabama, for dinner at Lambert’s Cafe, Home of the Throwed Rolls. Yes, that’s the whole name! This restaurant destination is also in Sikeston and Ozark, Missouri, if you’re ever that way.
Why Lambert’s Cafe?
Home to great “down-home cooking” and five-inch rolls, this place is not to be missed if you’re in the Foley/Gulf Shores area of Alabama. Mike had the fried chicken and I had meatloaf, and we both brought home half of our dinner! Of course, it’s probably because we filled up on the rolls that they toss to you straight out of the oven.
Notice how large the drink cups are! I think this is because they are so busy that they don’t have time for refills, so they give you the refill right off the bat.
Along with large portions and huge rolls, Lambert’s also has “Pass Arounds”. These are southern sides that they continuously bring around for you to try. Definitely enough food!

Along with generous portions, the decor is a sight in and of itself. We highly recommend trying Lambert’s if you’re near one.
Bike riding at Gulf State Park
Though over an hour from Meaher, Gulf State Park was worth the drive. There is a campground there as well, though it is very hard to get into. If you’re interested, it is a beautiful park, but you’ll need to make reservations eleven months out from your stay.
With over 28 miles of paved biking trails that also included riding on an elevated boardwalk, we loved this trail. It meanders through wooded areas, along the lakefront, up to the beach, and through the campground.

We parked at Park Headquarters, where there is free parking. A short distance away is Woodside Restaurant, where there are restroom facilities, as well as dining if you’re interested after your ride.
Conclusion
We truly enjoyed our time in Mobile. It was a fun week with beautiful scenery, great museums (check out last week’s blog – Our Visit to Mobile, Alabama – Park 1), Lambert’s, and riding at Gulf State Park. We highly recommend you put this on your destination bucket list.
Enjoyed reliving your trip to Lamberts and surrounding area.
We love Gulf State Park! Lamberts is a fun stop, too. Can’t wait to see where you go next!
