There are times when traveling that you come across an attraction, or two, that you just have to see to believe. Palo Duro Canyon and Cadillac Ranch are two of these attractions, but for very different reasons.
Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac Ranch is one of those places you have to stop at on your way through Amarillo on I-40. Located on the west side of Amarillo, Cadillac Ranch is literally ten old cadillacs partially buried in the dirt, all at the same angle. Every year, thousands of people go there for the sole purpose of spraying whatever they want on one of the cars. We were no exception! Didn’t remember your spray paint? No problem, because there are people selling cans, or even leaving half-empty cans for the next person. Just be sure to hold on to your hat, because the wind is fierce!

Palo Duro Canyon
While Cadillac Ranch is a kitschy tourist attraction, Palo Duro Canyon is a vision of nature’s beauty at it’s finest. Located east of Canyon, Texas, and south of Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in America! And unlike the Grand Canyon, you can easily drive down and even camp at the bottom of Palo Duro. It was absolutely breathtaking! We only spent a few hours there, but would love to go back and maybe do a little hiking or biking around the base of the canyon.
Whether you’re just passing through Amarillo on your way to somewhere else, or you’re staying for awhile, we definitely recommend checking out these two very interesting attractions.
