We spent an extra day in Tok while the rest of our tour group caught up to us having spent extra time in Dawson City trying to get across on the ferry. Fortunately they all made it, and we were together again.
Day 23-24 Valdez, Alaska
Day 23 – We drove 254 miles from Tok to Valdez. Along the way we stopped at Wrangell Mountain Range, St. Elias National Park and learned that this is Americaโs largest national park at 13.2 million acres. It is as big as Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Switzerland combined!

Continuing on, we had views of the Alaska Pipeline, and even got a picture of the #12 pipeline pump station.

Our next photo op was at Thompson Pass. The way the snow rippled across the mountain in the fog and mist made for very interesting photos.

As we were getting closer to Valdez, we stopped to take pictures of Bridal Veil Falls and Horsetail Falls. Every mile of this route had spectacular views.

Day 24 – We took a Prince William Sound Boat tour where we saw lots of sea lions, otters floating along, and got up close to the Mears Glacier. Mike even got to hold a piece of glacier ice.
We even managed to have our first whale sighting of the trip.

Day 25-26 Palmer, Alaska
Day 25 – We drove 260 miles to Palmer, Alaska. Along the way we stopped to admire the large Matanuska Glacier.
Unlike most of the glaciers weโve seen, this one is in the valley and is the only one accessible by car. It is 27 miles long and 4 miles wide!

Day 26 – We took a guided tour of the Musk Ox Farm. These animals produce a special kind of fiber that is very expensive, but very soft!

We then went to visit the Reindeer Farm. One interesting fact we learned was that they grow a new set of antlers every year!

Day 27-28 – Seward, Alaska

Day 27 – We made our way to Seward and stopped at Beluga Point with the hope of seeing some whales. Unfortunately, it was low tide and the whales were out to sea.
However, the scenery was pretty, so we had to take a photo.

We arrived at the Seward KOA and got set up before heading to Rayโs Waterfront Restaurant with Tom and Jill Julian so Mike could finally get fresh seafood! For such a small town, Seward was busy because the cruise ship was in port.
We walked around town before heading back to the campground to get ready for our cruise around Resurrection Bay the next day.
Day 28 – We had a lunch cruise around Resurrection Bay with the hope of seeing whales. Unfortunately, they were being shy, but we did see more of the beautiful scenery Alaska has to offer.
