We spent time in Houston, Texas, and stayed at Medical Center RV Resort. This was a great resort close to Houston and had great amenities. All the sites are level concrete pads large enough for any size rig. It is also close to the Houston medical center district where many of the major medical facilities and cancer facilities are. As a result, some in the resort are also receiving lifesaving medical treatment. The resort is very cognizant of this and make sure others know about things such as no smoking in the resort facilities, etc. to keep others safe.

It was also a short drive to the METRORail which was very easy to use as we toured the city. We could also see NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans, from our site!
Our kids got us a My City Pass for the Houston area for an early Christmas present, so we were able to use that to explore.
The Houston Aquarium

We took the METRORail in to get to the Houston Aquarium, however, it does not go all the way, so be prepared to walk. For this one, it might be better to drive in.
This is a small aquarium compared to others we’ve been to, but it was great for kids. There were plenty of interesting sea life and lots of educational exhibits. There is also a small amusement park outside for kids as well.
For the adults, there are restaurants on the property, complete with an aquarium right by your table.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

The Houston Museum of Natural Science was amazing and it’s right off the METRORail. Plan to spend several hours there because they have so many wonderful exhibits. From prehistoric times to the modern day workings of an oil rig, this museum has it all.
They have a large Egyptian exhibit complete with mummies and a sarcophagus. Be sure to check out the gems exhibit as well. Beautiful!

Houston Zoo
Every major city has a zoo, and Houston is no exception. The Houston Zoo is also right off the METRORail. While this zoo has similar attractions to many other zoos, it’s still fun to walk around and see the animals. We were fortunate to see a baby elephant and a baby giraffe!

Space Center Houston
We’ve done Space Center Houston in a previous post here, but didn’t have time to explore it all. So we were happy this was included on our City Pass! There is so much to see that you should expect to spend several hours at least.

One thing to remember about My City Pass is that you only have nine days to see the 5 different experiences included on the pass. We used our pass the week before Christmas and unfortunately didn’t make it to the 5th museum, the Museum of Fine Arts. However, if we go back we’d definitely visit this museum.
Also, there are a lot of attractions along the METRORail, so feel free to explore more than those mentioned above. Rice University is also there, and the campus is beautiful.
Conclusion
There is so much to explore in the Houston area, and we highly recommend you put this location on your travel list.
